Little monkey baby teether crochet pattern

Would you like to crochet a bite ring? Then you can use this teether crochet pattern. It’s made with Scheepjes Catona cotton and crochet hook size 2.5 mm. You can also use another kind of cotton if you like.

Supplies

  • 1 skein Scheepjes Catona white (130)
  • 1 skein Scheepjes Catona brown (254)
  • leftover dark brown cotton
  • bite ring 70 mm
  • crochet hook size 2.5 mm
  • fibre fill
  • rattle bead

Abbreviations U.S.

  • mr =. magic ring
  • ch = chain
  • st = stitch
  • sc = single crochet
  • sl st = slip stitch
  • dec = decrease (crochet 2 stitches together)
  • inc = increase (2 stitches in one stitch)

I did not use safety eyes, because this toy is meant for little children. Instead I embroidered the eyes, using the French knot button. The ears are crocheted into the head, so they can’t come loose easily.

Important: you can clean the wooden ring with a damp cloth. It’s important to check the ring each time you give it to a baby. When the child has it’s first tooth, the ring shouldn’t be used as a bite ring anymore.

Attention:
This teether crochet pattern is made in continuous rounds. Don’t close the rounds. In the last column you can see the number of stitches at the end of the round.

Snout

Fasten off leaving a long tail, so you can stitch the snout to the head later on.

Crochet another 8 sc along the short side of the ear and fasten off. Leave a sewing tail and crochet another ear.

Round 13: Determine where you want to place the ears. The side of one ear has 8 stitches. Crochet an sc in the number of stitches you need until where the ear has to be placed. Place the inside of the ear against your crochet work. Put the hook through a stitch of the ear and a stitch of the head. Pull up a loop and crochet a sc. Repeat with the other 7 stitches. After that you crochet sc’s until the stitch where te 2nd ear begins. Crochet like the first ear and crochet sc until the end of the round.

Stitch the snout on the head, between round 3 and 8. Embroider the eyes, like shown in the picture below.

Place the rattle bead and stuff as you go.

Cut the yarn and pull the tail through the six outer loops. Pull to close the gap.

Patch

  • Chain 21
  • Turn, sc in 2nd loop from the hook, sc in the next loops. Ch 1 and turn.
  • Row 3-11: Repeat row 2.
  • After row 11: go around the corner and crochet an edge with sc on the side, the bottom and the other side. Close with a sl st and fasten off.
  • Stitch the head to the middle of the patch. Make sure its stitched on firmly, so it will be safe to use.
  • Place the patch around the ring en stitch the sides together. Weave in the ends.
